Smith is the Principal of Belvedere Group and the portfolio manager. He is best known for the development of innovative fee structures for the investment industry. He also has extensive knowledge of the legal and compliance requirements within the institutional and corporate retirement marketplace. In addition to authoring numerous articles on institutional money management, Smith has contributed to Industry publications such as The Wall Street Journal.

His past experience includes research and sales positions with several large Wall Street investment banks before founding Belvedere Group in 1986. He holds a BS in Business Administration from The Citadel and is a registered Certified Financial Planner.
